Recommendations for Running a Tandem of Adsorption Chillers Connected in Series and Powered by Low-Temperature Heat from District Heating Network

In this paper, we investigate implications of running a cooling system two silicagel/water adsorption chillers powered by district heating network. The devices are connected in series, i.e., the water output from primary chiller is directed to secondary one. consequence, device must deal with an even lower driving temperature and fluctuations caused device. We have evaluated three factors that influence operation those coupled devices: synchronization their operating cycles, selection cycle time allocations (CTAs), changing mass flow rate. Numerical analyses indicate performance drops significantly if use same CTA run asynchronously. decrease largest shift between cycles x=0.375 x=0.875. found it possible reduce negative asynchronous implementing different each chiller. best achieved uses desorption ratio f=1.0 f = 0.6–0.7.
